After encountering numerous of men and women coming out of jail and prison, with little means of successfully re-integrating back into society, and with the high rate of recidivisms. God gave Pastor Teresa A. Darden the heart and the vision to establish the Rockland County Jail Outreach Ministries Inc.

RCJOM Inc., being a ministry that God has given Pastor Darden, with a mission to assist the offender, the ex-offender, and their families, who have been entangled in the Criminal Justice System.

With the endeavor to meet the needs of the Whole-Man, Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually. With a determined effort, to bring hope to families that have been left behind to contend with the experience of incarceration.

After some time, with these men, women, and families needing a place that they could worship and grow, and obtain the necessary tools for success. The Upper Room House of Worship was established in 1998.

From her living room, to the store-front on Main Street Spring Valley, to the place where God had intended for them to be from the beginning, being, 118 Bethune Blvd. Spring Valley. A Community Church and Resource Center for all people. “Whosoever will let him come” Rev.22:17

This being, actually the first place God had sent Pastor Darden, after coming out of her living room, that God might establish Him a place of worship for his people. But, all in God’s timing. For in time past, the facilities was not available. Then, after 4 years, God directed Pastor Darden, to go back to that present place, as he had plans for it.

And after the short time of renting for 6 years, God moved on the hearts of the owners to loose all ties to the building, for he had need of it for Ministry, and on October 2nd, 2009, for the price of, a little of nothing, the “Upper Room House of Worship Inc.”, and it’s Members, purchased the building, being 118 Bethune Blvd, Spring Valley N.Y., paid in full. “To God be the Glory!”

Since that time, the Upper Room House of Worship Inc., has established and grown. Because of God, and His Faithfulness to His people, and the faithful, devoted, loving, giving, praying and teachable people of God, that are the members of the “Upper Room” we move forward. And we look forward to Building a New Facility on the very same site of 118 Bethune Blvd. Spring Valley NY, in the near future. 

The Upper Room House of Worship Inc., being it’s members. that God has called out, to do the work of the ministry, being a living organism, a working church, very visible and active in our community, making a difference, making a change, being a reflection of Jesus and His love, are lights that sit upon the HILL.
